The Christmas Season has come and gone but I am still listening to Christmas music. Other years have felt like a struggle to keep listening but something feels different this year. Other years waiting until after the Epiphany to take down our Christmas tree and decorations felt like procrastinating. This year it felt like we took down the decor too soon. Perhaps it was the substantial.and enduring snow cover. Maybe it was our growing family and our kids’ enjoyment that made it easier for us to linger in the most wonderful time of the year. And while I’m in no rush to move on to the next greeting card holiday, I know that the preciousness of Christmastime is due in part to the special this we do that can only be done to celebrate Christmas. Over the years, Christmas had changed for me. I still reminisce about my boyhood and the joy I felt around Christmas. As I have grown older, with an ever increasing awareness of the world, my Christmas came to endure life, rather than stoke it. This year was the first time in a long time when Christmas reinvigorated and restored me. I hope I can make it last all year.
