Avengers: Age of Ultron

This was an entertaining film but felt more like an Avengers’ Reunion with character calling out catch phrases. Where the first Avengers film was a tour de force, a collision of larger than life heroes united like continental plates, Age of Ultron felt more like a collection of cameos.

Despite the build up as an insurmountable opponent, Ultron came off as weak compared with other adversaries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

One surprising peculiarity of this volume in the Marvel franchise was its forced use of crude humor and language. Aside from the inconsequential violence of the film, the crude humor (hide the zucchini, multiplying faster than Catholic rabbits, *hit) felt out of place. It may have been an effort to feel more aggressive than a “Disney” film. In addition to.being unnecessary, the jokes came off as offensive and fell flat.
